
FDA initiated an inspection at Black Sheep Egg Company’s egg processing facility and collected environmental samples. Of the samples collected, 40 environmental samples were positive for Salmonella including seven different strains of Salmonella. Some of these strains are known to cause human illness. FDA does not have information available at this time to suggest that this firm is the source of an ongoing outbreak.
Black Sheep Egg Company has initiated a recall and has contacted their direct customers in an effort to remove potentially contaminated product from the market; however, in an effort to alert consumers who may still have products in their homes, FDA is issuing an alert to recommend that consumers, retailers, and distributors not eat, sell, or serve the recalled Black Sheep Egg Company products.
Products of concern include12- and 18-count cartons of Black Sheep Egg Company branded Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs with Best By dates of 8/22/2025 through 10/31/2025 listed on the side of the carton.
The recalled product includes UPC codes: 860010568507 and 860010568538.
Black Sheep Egg Company also distributed eggs to other companies in Arkansas and Missouri that may have repackaged them. Additional products may be added to this advisory as information becomes available.
